Gustavo Dudamel is coming to Cal Performances!

Gustavo Dudamel to be part of Cal Peformances’ Berkeley Radical

Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra will spend five days in residence at Cal Performances in September as part of Berkeley Radical, a new initiative aimed at increasing artistic literacy among the public.

Berkeley Radical — the second word is an acronym for “Research and Development Initiative in Creativity, Arts, Learning” — will include a variety of symposia, lectures, research presentations and multimedia projects in connection with Cal Performances’ programming. It will draw on the resources of UC Berkeley as well as a new organizational partnership with iTunes.

The orchestral residency, scheduled for Sept. 22-26, will include film screenings, master classes, open rehearsals and a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the Greek Theatre. Information at www.calperformances.org.
